Universal Maritime Bureau offers its Classification services, in accordance with a set of Rules and Regulations, which cover all Technical aspects related to Sea-Going Vessels construction, surveys and maintenance throughout their service life.
These Rules and Regulations, cover:
General Survey Regulations, Classification Regulations, Hull, Hull Equipment, Stability and Subdivision, Fire Protection, Machinery Installations and Refrigerating Plants, Machinery, Boilers and Pressure Vessels, Electrical Equipment and Automation, Materials and Welding etc.

Classification Services
Through the followed Rules and Regulations, UMB sets safety and environmental standards for the design, construction and operation of ships.
The followed Rules and Regulations, are continually updated in order to take into consideration the latest developments and requirements.
At any point of your ship’s service life, you may choose to Transfer your Ship to UMB.
a.Classification of New Constructions
The classification of new constructions begins with the submittal of plans and documents as specified in the Rules for the Classification of vessels, to the UMB Head Office. All of the submitted documentation is reviewed by skilled engineers in order to ensure compliance with the followed Rules and Regulations.
This includes Hull, Machinery and Equipment of vessels as covered by the Rules and Regulations.
b.Classification of Existing Vessels and Other Marine Structures
Existing vessels and Other Marine Structures are classed by UMB and certified when confirmed that all arrangements satisfy the followed Rules and Regulations and upon satisfactory completion of the relevant surveys.
UMB will perform periodic class surveys, in order to ensure that your ships remain compliant with the Rules and Regulations, verifying their seaworthiness and operability and identifying and copying appropriately with any problems that may arise.
c.Classification of Vessels and Other Marine Structures undergoing major modifications
The classification of Vessels and Other Marine Structures undergoing major modifications begins with the submittal of preliminary plans and documents as specified in the Rules for the Classification of vessels, to the UMB Head Office.
All of the submitted documentation is reviewed by skilled engineers in order to ensure compliance with the followed Rules and Regulations.
This includes Hull, Machinery and Equipment of vessels as covered by the Rules and Regulations.
Classification follows onboard physical attendance and survey, and attending surveyors’ confirmation that all arrangements satisfy the followed Rules and Regulations, upon satisfactory completion of the relevant surveys.
